YOUR TASKS
iMATCH (www.imatch.ugent.be) stands for image-based material characterisation platform and should become UGent's expert platform in the field of tomographic material characterisation. This platform responds to the growing need to further increase the strengths of image-based materials research at UGent within growing importance of the European policy on materials (including circular economy, rare materials, recycling, multi-functional, sustainable and eco-friendly materials). UGent IOF is expanding its HyCT (www.hybridct.com), iKnow (iknow.ugent.be) and DuraBUILDmaterials (dbm.ugent.be) consortia, all three active for more than 10 years, with an additional staff member to manage and further develop the iMATCH platform.
Central to this is the already existing and internationally recognised UGent ‘Centre for X-ray Tomography’, UGCT (www.ugct.ugent.be), which is also a UGent expertise centre and core facility. Starting from a broad range of academic topics, where wood, geo- and building materials are closest to the core of the participating consortia, the potential of UGCT within iMATCH will be further developed for all material classes where academic and industrial questions are central in the context of materialisation of engineering designs.
The innovation officer's tasks include further professionalising the existing UGCT platform, concluding framework agreements with industrial partners, further engaging in strategic investments in imaging capabilities, as well as scouting nationally and internationally for collaborations and new trends in CT developments in function of materials research.
Finally, the innovation officer will be embedded in an operational team and will more broadly contribute to its activities and tasks.
