YOUR TASKS
- You spend at least 90% of your assignment on scientific research
- Your research fits within a research project funded by the UGent Industrial Research Fund where we aim to improve the efficacy and durability of traditional CAR T-cell therapies through a specific glycosylation change at the cell surface. The aim of the current project is to complete the data package with a perspective to technology transfer.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You have broad research experience in synthetic biology, specifically in Chimeric Antigen Receptor T (CAR T) cell engineering, particularly through genetic engineering of CAR T cell metabolic/biosynthetic pathways.
- You have experience in experimental work with mouse models, glycan analysis, and flow cytometry, and you have a strong background in T-cell immunology.
- You hold a FELASA C certificate.
- You have a particular interest and experience in intellectual property protection; given the lab’s focus on medical biotechnology, patents are considered equivalent to publications.
- Interest in tech transfer is required, given the focus on valorizing the project.
- You have experience in teaching lectures at the Master’s level in molecular life sciences and supervising students.
- You hold a thesis-based doctorate in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or Bioengineering.
- You are a creative, collaborative person with a hands-on attitude and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads.
- Effective communication and writing skills, along with a good command of the English language, are essential for successful selection.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for a period of 23 months.
- Your contract will start on 1/02/2025 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales.
