JOUW OPDRACHT

Specifieke onderzoeksactiviteiten verrichten in het kader van een fundamenteel senior onderzoeksproject (FWO) over ongelijkheid in vrijwilligerswerk. Het takenpakket bestaat uit: 1) opstellen van een FAIR datamanagementplan voor het project, 2) oprichten van een stakeholdergroep om relevante onderzoeksuitkomsten voor beleid en praktijk te formuleren en hiervoor een stappenplan te ontwikkelen, 3) samenwerken met een junior doctoraatsonderzoeker om een verkennende analyse uit te voeren van de beleidscontext en het organisatorisch veld van twee centrale middenveldsectoren in Vlaanderen: de sociaal-culturele sector en de sector van de sociale dienstverlening en welzijn. Dit gebeurt via desktop onderzoek en +/- 20 diepte-interviews met sleutelactoren binnen deze sectoren. Op basis hiervan wordt een theoretisch geïnformeerde steekproef beoogd van 8 organisaties per sector voor een meer diepgaande kwalitatieve dataverzameling.

JOUW PROFIEL

Je hebt een diploma van Doctor op proefschrift in de sociologie of een aanverwante discipline
Je hebt theoretische affiniteit met organisatiesociologie/organisatiestudies, sociologie van de nonprofit sector/middenveld, vraagstukken van sociale ongelijkheid, burgerschap en participatie, georganiseerd vrijwilligerswerk. Publicaties over deze onderwerpen zijn een pluspunt.
Je hebt ervaring met kwalitatieve onderzoeksmethoden. Aantoonbare kennis van of ervaring met beleidsanalyses en/of organisatorische veldanalyses zijn een pluspunt
Je hebt ervaring met en/of sterke interesse in de ethische aspecten van onderzoek, het opstellen van een datamanagementplan, open science principes. Je beschikt over de vaardigheden om deze zorgvuldig uit te werken op maat van het project.
Je hebt ervaring met het werken met maatschappelijke stakeholders, kan deze proactief samenbrengen en enthousiasmeren, met als doel een praktische vertaalslag te maken van fundamentele onderzoeksvragen- en doelen en een duurzame samenwerking in het kader van het project te garanderen.
Je bent een teamspeler, beschikt over uitstekende coördinatie- en organisatievaardigheden, sterke communicatievaardigheden, en hebt ervaring met projectmanagement
Kennis over en ervaring met de concrete context van het Vlaamse middenveld en haar rijke diversiteit aan organisaties is een pluspunt
Je kan respectvol omgaan met diverse achtergronden en opvattingen
Je bent een vaardige gebruiker van het Nederlands

ONS AANBOD

Wij bieden je een deeltijds contract (50%) van bepaalde tijd voor een periode van 1 jaar (mogelijkheid tot verlenging met 1 extra jaar).
De indiensttreding kan ten vroegste vanaf 15/03/2026.

YOUR TASKS

To conduct specific research activities within the framework of a fundamental senior research project (FWO) on inequality in volunteer work. The tasks consist of: 1) developing a FAIR data management plan for the project, 2) establishing a stakeholder group to formulate relevant research outcomes for policy and practice and developing a roadmap for this, 3) collaborating with a junior PhD researcher to conduct an exploratory analysis of the policy context and organizational landscape of two central civil society sectors in Flanders, Belgium: the socio-cultural sector and the social services and welfare sector. This will be done through desktop research and approximately 20 in-depth interviews with key stakeholders within these sectors. Based on this, a theoretically informed sample of 8 organizations per sector is intended for more in-depth qualitative data collection.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You hold a thesis-based doctorate in Sociology or a related discipline.
You have a theoretical affinity with organizational sociology/organizational studies, sociology of the nonprofit sector/civil society, issues of social inequality, citizenship and participation, and organized volunteer work. Publications on these topics are a plus.
You have experience with qualitative research methods. Demonstrable knowledge of or experience with policy analyses and/or organizational field analyses is a plus.
You have experience with and/or a strong interest in the ethical aspects of research, developing a data management plan, and open science principles. You possess the skills to carefully develop these, tailored to the project.
You have experience working with societal stakeholders and can proactively bring them together and inspire them, with the aim of making a practical translation of fundamental research questions and objectives and ensuring sustainable collaboration within the project.
You are a team player, possess excellent coordination and organizational skills, strong communication skills, and have experience with project management, are a team player.
Knowledge about and experience with the specific context of Flemish civil society and its rich diversity of organizations is a plus.
You can respectfully interact with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
You are a proficient user of Dutch.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

We offer you a part-time contract (50%) of definite duration for the period 1 year (possible extension with 1 extra year).
Your contract will start on 15/03/2026 at the earliest.
