In the context of our ambitious policy on European research funding, Ghent University is hiring an additional EU account manager with a specific focus on Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) as part of Horizon Europe Pillar 1.
EU account managers help to shape the central services for attracting European and international research funding. You will join a young enthusiastic team of like-minded people, each with their own thematic expertise. You will have the the opportunity to develop your own initiatives and to follow, and eventually give, training courses.


The main task of an EU account manager is to provide better support to researchers in acquiring European research and innovation funds, by focusing on improving the quality of applications for European and international research funding. The MSCA programme focusses on doctoral education and postdoctoral training through research, built on both fundamental and applied sciences in all scientific disciplines. 

 

On the longer term, this position will enable you to build an extensive network of academic and non-academic partners in a variety of research areas. It will also allow you to specialize in other funding schemes within Horizon Europe Pillar 1, either related to talent management, such as ERC, or to international Research Infrastructures, and/or within the two other Pillars of Horizon Europe, such as the European Innovation Council (EIC) programme or the current Cluster programmes.

 

Main tasks

  • You follow up on calls from Horizon Europe, and stimulate Ghent University researchers to become active in Horizon Europe, more specifically but not exhaustively, in the funding schemes of MSCA;
  • You help  future consortia in their search for the right strategic partners;
  • You support the writing of project proposals, especially the parts on the training plan, impact and implementation;
  • You read proposals and formulate recommendations to improve their quality;
  • You develop information sessions and training for researchers wishing to apply for MSCA funding;
  • You follow up on European policy developments with regard to doctoral education and postdoctoral training in consultation with the colleagues of the team Doctoral School;
  • You maintain contacts within Ghent University and in Europe, including through European networks.

 

Your profile

Knowledge and experience

  • You have a Master degree in any science field;
  • You have at least 4 years of research experience;
  • A PhD degree is an asset;
  • You have a keen interest in the MSCA subprogramme as part of  the European framework program Horizon Europe;
  • You have experience with applying for European subsidies;
  • Having relevant expertise in (developing) training and education is an asset;
  • Having a relevant European research network is an asset;
  • You have excellent oral and written knowledge of English, and are willing to learn Dutch up to at least CEFR level B1.  A good knowledge of a third European language is recommended;
  • You can work with the current MS Office applications.

  • You are willing to work occasionally in Brussels and to travel within Europe.
