Your assignment
The HPC team of the ICT department offers centralized services in the field of scientific computing, including access to infrastructure, training and support for researchers from Ghent University, industry and other knowledge institutions. As part of this assignment, this team manages the Tier1 Compute and Cloud infrastructure of the Flemish Supercomputer Center, for which researchers from all over Belgium can submit requests for resources (including accounts, compute time and storage). The HPC team also develops its own Tier2 computing infrastructure, which offers UGent researchers access to similar resources.
We are looking for a new colleague to manage the requests for these resources (including a.o. accounts, compute time and storage) in the context of scientific computing and data and can help support researchers. Your tasks include a.o.:
- you maintain an overview of requested, granted and rejected projects and the associated resources on the Tier1 Compute and Cloud infrastructure of the Flemish Supercomputer Center
- you maintain an overview of requested, granted and rejected virtual organisations and other similar requests for storage and the associated resources on the Tier2 computing infrastructure of Ghent University
- you ensure that resources are made available for granted projects in the corresponding infrastructures
- you make analyses (a.o. of usage) and help with the preparation of reporting
- you communicate with and support users, in consultation and discussion with the other HPC team members
- you contribute to documentation and manuals

Knowledge and experience

You have experience with scientific applications / research projects
- You have experience in communicating with researchers
- Preferably you have experience in using HPC systems
- You have a good knowledge of Dutch and a very good knowledge of English (both spoken and written)
- We also welcome applications from junior profiles and recent graduates
